  • Borrowing items from the library is free of charge. Always bring your library card. In order to obtain a library card, you will have to bring your ID and sign a formal agreement accepting the rules and regulations for the use of the library.

Choose between a local library card or a national library card, depending on your needs. The latter is accepted at most Norwegian libraries.

  • If you are under 15, we require a signed agreement from your legal guardian.
  • You are responsible for the items borrowed with your library card. Please notify us if you lose your library card.
  • It is your responsibility to notify us about any changes regarding your address or contact information, such as telephone number and e-mail.
  • Normally, the borrowing period is 4 weeks. The exceptions are as follows:Films and computer games: 1 week. Magazines: 2 weeks. Language courses: 8 weeks. Note that certain books may have a shorter borrowing period due to being in strong demand. Please refer to the receipt for the effective due date.

  • You may place orders for and pick up your library items at the library of your choice.
  • If your library does not have the item you request, it is in most cases possible to obtain it from another library.
  • If you register your e-mail or telephone number, it is possible to opt for receiving a reminder of the due date a couple of days prior to said date. This service is free of charge.
  • If you hand in the library items after the due date, fees may apply. The overdue notice fees are as follows: 1st overdue notice: 20,- NOK, 2nd overdue notice: 20,- NOK, claim for restitution: 50,- NOK (90,- NOK in total).
  • Items not delivered after overdue notice will need to be compensated for, and claim for restitution will be issued.
