Rules and regulations for Jærbiblioteka (Sola, Klepp and Time public libraries)

The following rules and regulations apply to the three libraries of Sola, Klepp and Time:

  • Borrowing items from the library is free of charge. Always bring your library card. In order to obtain a library card, you will have to bring your ID and sign a formal agreement accepting the rules and regulations for the use of the library. 

Choose between a local library card or a national library card, depending on your needs. The latter is accepted at most Norwegian libraries.

  • If you are under 15, we require a signed agreement from your legal guardian.
  • You are responsible for the items borrowed with your library card. Please notify us if you lose your library card.
  • It is your responsibility to notify us about any changes regarding your address or contact information, such as telephone number and e-mail.
  • Normally, the borrowing period is 4 weeks. The exceptions are as follows:Films and computer games: 1 week. Magazines: 2 weeks. Language courses: 8 weeks. Note that certain books may have a shorter borrowing period due to being in strong demand. Please refer to the receipt for the effective due date.
  • The borrowing period may normally be extended, provided that no reservations have been made for the item(s) in question. You may renew your loan either via the app Bibliofil or by contacting the library.
  • You may place orders for and pick up your library items at the library of your choice.
  • If your library does not have the item you request, it is in most cases possible to obtain it from another library.
  • If you register your e-mail or telephone number, it is possible to opt for receiving a reminder of the due date a couple of days prior to said date.This service is free of charge.
  • If you hand in the library items after the due date, fees may apply. The overdue notice fees are as follows: 1st overdue notice: 20,- NOK, 2nd overdue notice: 20,- NOK, claim for restitution: 50,- NOK (90,- NOK in total).
  • Items not delivered after overdue notice will need to be compensated for, and claim for restitution will be issued.
  • If you lose or damage a library item, you will have to compensate for the loss. The library is not responsible for any damages to electronic devices and suchlike.
  • If you abuse our services, you may lose access to our material.
  • The library staff have a duty of confidentiality.
  • Any information regarding the library items you have borrowed is deleted from your account when you return them. If you receive an overdue notice, a record of the items is kept until the fee has been paid.
